When you copy a text, Excel file, e-mail attachment on your computer, the operating system stores it on the clipboard. When you make more than one copy, it keeps it in an application called clipboard history. Since Windows 10 and 11 are cloud compatible, clipboard history feature if you want; You can share it between devices with which you are logged in more than once. A text in the incoming mail; Pasting it from the Outlook application on the computer to WhatsApp on your mobile phone can be quite useful in some cases.

Is Clipboard History Risky?
Yes, the first recommendation of almost every information security supervisor, information security support units and cyber security department in your company; Your login password will be mixed. You must have seen it on some web pages (especially in official institutions such as banking, e-government); While entering your internet password, it pulls out a keyboard on the screen, disables the clipboard feature and forces you to use only the on-screen keyboard, one of the reasons is that it does not want you to use the clipboard feature.
Every user who can access your device will easily see your important password, notes and/or information in the clipboard history. This will even make you guilty in a possible malicious use.
How to use Clipboard History?
First, let's check if it is enabled; For this (Start > Settings (or Windows+I) > System > Clipboard) follow the instructions. You can turn it on when needed.
To use clipboard history; When pasting text you copied with CTRL+C. WINDOWS KEY+V use as, you will see a small window open on the right. From here you can also see the items you have copied before.

To disable clipboard history (Start > Settings (or Windows+I) > System > Clipboard) You can turn it off on the page.
Clipboard history can store up to 25 items. Note, however, that some copied items may be pinned. Especially in Web design and applications such as Excel, this will work very well.
So, does clipboard history have a capacity? Yes, you can see files up to 4MB in size here. You can use the files on it as normal with copy and paste.
In Windows 10, it is possible to delete and pin a single item and/or all items by clicking the options section of any item in your clipboard history. In Windows 11, you can pin any item in your clipboard history without clicking the options button. You can paste or delete the item by clicking the Options section. You can click (Delete all) in the clipboard history window to delete all.
